- Portions : 2
- Cooking time : 30 min
- Preparation : 20 min
Ingredients
- 6 mini red potatoes (“grelot”)
- 6 mini white potatoes (“grelot”)
- ½ onion
- 15 ml (1 tbsp) olive oil
10 ml (2 tsp.) Cajun spices
- Ingredients for homemade Cajun spices
- 15 ml (1 tbsp.) paprika
- 5 ml (1 tsp.) thyme
- 10 ml (2 tsp.) garlic salt
- 5 ml (1 tsp.) black pepper
- 5 ml (1 tsp.) mustard powder
- 5 ml (1 tsp.) cumin
- 2.5 ml (1/2 tsp.) Cayenne pepper or chilli pepper
Mix all the ingredients together. If some are whole, grind them either with a mortar and pestle, or with an electric grinder (like a coffee machine).
Preparation
Preheat the barbecue.
Wash potatoes and boil in salted water until half cooked, or for approximately 10 to 15 minutes according to size. Drain and let cool.
Cut onion into 2 cm (1 inch) pieces. Assemble brochettes by alternating a red potato, a piece of onion, a white potato, a piece of onion, etc. Put six potatoes per brochette.
In a bowl, mix oil and Cajun spices together. Brush onto the brochettes and cook for approximately 10 to 12 minutes.
Variation: Cajun spices can be replaced with barbecue spices or by a mixture of fresh herbs mixed with olive oil.
